This role will be for the frozen food division of Grupo Bimbo. Wholesome Harvest Baking is the largest North American supplier of frozen, par-baked breads to the retail and food service channels. As an independent business unit of Grupo Bimbo, Wholesome Harvest Baking seeks to grow value-added bakery segments by focusing on health and well-being, and penetrating new bakery segments and channels of distribution. Wholesome Harvest Baking operates 7 bakeries and employs approximately 1,400 Associates across Canada and the United States.

The HR Advisor will lead and provide a full range of strategic and operational HR generalist support to both the hourly and the salaried assoicates at our Viceroy & Rivermede facilities located in Concord, Ontario. The incumbent will be responsible for providing front-line day to day operational support, providing coaching and direction in HR functional areas. The incumbent will assist Managers and Supervisors in the administration of the collective agreement in order to foster positive labour & employee relations.

  • Maintain complete and accurate employee files for hourly associates.
  • Ensure adequate hourly staffing levels are maintained by coordinating with production and external temporary labour providers.
  • Support the hourly recruitment process for skilled labour including applicant selection, interviewing, and reference checking and offer preparation.
  • Participate in the development of training materials and new hire orientation.
  • Support supervisors with facility & corporate training initiatives (SISTEM).
  • The coordination of internal job postings, transfers, layoffs, recalls and related administration.
  • Administer the pension and benefit plans including coordinating with the Corporate Pension and Benefits team on new enrollments, plan changes, plan terminations and associate specific issues.
  • Provide support to ensure that payroll can be processed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Provide coaching and training to Supervisors and hourly associates on Human Relations processes and policies.
  • Manage the grievance resolution process.
  • Respond to hourly associate inquires and concerns and take steps to resolve issues.
  • Investigate reported associate incidents and assist in the delivery of any required disciplinary action.
  • Review, updating and implementation of policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the organization of company social events.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Post-Secondary education in HR Management or Business Administration with 4+ years of generalist HR experience in a unionized environment. Alternative education and equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
  • Completed or working towards a CHRP/CHRL designation is preferred.
  • Experience in a unionized, manufacturing environment.
  • Collective bargaining experience an asset.
  • A high degree of flexibility to adapt to and effectively manage multiple priorities in a large size organization.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, coaching and influencing skills.
  • High standards of integrity, energy level, and self-motivation.
  • Strong customer service orientation and conflict management skills.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of applicable legislation and its applications.

  • Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and HRIS systems.
