The business will continue to grow market leadership and margins by investing in the premium whole grain product category, and by delivering continued product innovation in other bakery and snack categories.
Canada Bread serves major grocery chains, retail outlets and foodservice operations across Canada. The company distributes branded products in the discount, mainstream and super-premium segments, and is the leading producer in most major bakery categories. It also produces private label products for grocery and foodservice outlet.

The Packaging Buyer is accountable to manage packaging categories and work on projects as required within Canada Bread Company Limited and Wholesome Harvest Bakeries. There will be a focus on delivering cost savings, ensuring accurate category budgets and forecasts, and managing day to day business needs.  This role will support Canada Bread Company Limited and Wholesome Harvest Bakeries.
  • Provides strong leadership on their assigned categories and is regarded as the internal expert.
  • Perform in depth analysis of the global industry for assigned categories to bring forth recommendations on strategy.
  • Establish strong relationships with industry stakeholders with the goal of gaining superior insight into the future direction of the category.
  • Fully understands all aspects of the industry including supply and demand, cost drivers, target costs, technology, supplier profiles and capabilities.
  • Provides business units with future price forecasts, purchase price variance explanations and budget cost projections.
  • Develops long-term source plans and/or category sheets for the category and communicates the strategy and implications to the business.
  • Leads projects and the associated change management, in conjunction with suppliers and the business units that continually reduce costs through the supply chain.
  • Fully understands the capabilities of the supply base, including the supplier’s supply base working on collective purchasing strategies for the supplier’s raw materials.
  • Work with the Global Packaging Team to leverage spend and share best practices and processes.
  • Negotiate contracts with suppliers.
  • Effective supply of goods and services to the business.
  • Category strategies clearly understood and supported by the business stakeholders.

  • University degree preferred
  • Prefer 2-5 years of work experience in Buyer capacity within a Purchasing or Supply Chain function
  • Experience in managing complex projects with tight timelines.
  • Solid project and change management skills.
  • Strong Interpersonal skills, ability to work under time pressures.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate as an effective team member.
  • Good communication and problem solving skills.
  • Conceptual thinking to understand the total system flow to resolve issues.
