The business will continue to grow market leadership and margins by investing in the premium whole grain product category, and by delivering continued product innovation in other bakery and snack categories.

MARKETS:
Canada Bread serves major grocery chains, retail outlets, and foodservice operations across Canada. The company distributes branded products in the discount, mainstream, and super-premium segments, and is the leading producer in most major bakery categories. It also produces private label products for grocery and foodservice outlet.

The Sales Excellence Manager is part of a dynamic team dedicated to supporting Field Sales through project management, innovation, and continuous improvement in core areas such as ordering, delivery, selling, and merchandising.   This role leads a team of analysts, and works closely with other Sales Excellence Managers and collaboratively, they problem solve, build and manage processes and tools, facilitate learning, mitigate risk, and enhance productivity. Their guiding principles of lean thinking and respect for others power the skills and tactics to support Bimbo Canada’s strategic objectives of business simplification and driving profitable customer growth.
 
In particular, this role also provides leadership and governance in the areas of Field Sales reporting and analysis.  Emphasis is on ensuring the consistent provision of a nationally aligned and regionally focused suite of reports and tools that support Field Sales core activities, and offer visibility to timely results that drive the desired activities.  He/she ensures that these reports are executed with integrity and precision, and are effectively designed to guide the business forward through the measurement of key performance indicators.  In addition, the Sales Excellence Manager will lead and deploy strategic initiatives that directly impact results. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Project Management, Innovation, & Continuous Improvement
  • Offers leadership through project management and process design in order to drive identified strategic priorities.  Effectively organizes resources and activities into streamlined work plans that deliver timely results. 
  • Develops a deep understanding of Field Sales and business requirements and identifies opportunities for innovation.  Engages with associates and leadership to facilitate the development of creative solutions and tools, and leverages communication and change management tactics to implement for sustainable results.
  • Seeks ongoing opportunities for continuous improvement of core sales processes (ordering, delivery, selling and merchandising).  This includes an emphasis on activities to simplify the business and eliminate waste. 
Reporting & Analysis
  • Leads Field Sales initiatives that support strategic priorities, ensuring adherence to project management principles, established processes, and other identified guardrails.  The success of each is measured against defined targets.
  • Understands the established insights and reporting standards used in Field Sales in the consumer packaged goods industry and the appropriate application of each.  Uses an innovative approach to design and implement new solutions in an effort to improve Field Sales activities and enhance productivity.
  • Oversight of national team of sales analysts with an emphasis on ensuring effective coordination and accuracy of sales data from multiple sources (such as Oracle, QlikView, etc.), and maintenance of processes and systems to ensure integrity of master data.
  • Ongoing assessment and refinement of reporting and analysis needs of the Field Sales team based on identified priorities and core processes; with emphasis on national alignment and standardization of key metrics and application.
  • Provides analytical and strategic support to Field Sales, including but not limited to: key performance indicator tracking, impact assessments for risk management and decision making, initiative benchmarking, and general transactional reporting. 

PREFERRED HIRING CRITERIA:

  • Strong business, financial, and analytical acumen, with particular experience in sales and/or DSD environment
  • Effective analytical and organizational skills
  • Ability to think strategically and effectively tie in business objectives with field level tactics
  • Excellent planning, project management, and organizational skills, plus ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Detail oriented, able to develop and lead complex processes
  • An innovative and creative thinker with good judgement about how potential ideas may play out in the marketplace
  • Ability to work with a positive attitude and in a professional manner
  • Enjoy working in a fast paced, changing environment
  • Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • 3 – 5 Years of managerial experience
  • Experience of leading a team of 3-5 direct reports locally and in various geographical locations
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision and effectively with others
  • Action-oriented bias, with a keen focus on delivering results
  • Intermediate to advanced PC proficiency (MS Excel, Access and Power point)
  • Post-secondary degree in business or related field
  • Frequent travel within North America
  • Lean Six Sigma or PMP certification would be an asset
