Position Summary: 
 
The Stationary Engineer is responsible for the safe and efficient operation, preventive and breakdown maintenance of the heating, cooling and related plant equipment, as well as other duties as assigned.
 
Position Responsibilities:
  • Perform service tasks, maintenance, and operations including, but not limited to:
    • Preventative Maintenance
    • Corrective Maintenance
    • Demand Maintenance
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and code requirements within the scope of services.
  • Liaise with regulatory agencies under the direction of the Chief as required, including but not limited to TSSA.
  • Integrate and develop a productive working alliance with the Institution’s service delivery teams.
  • Inspections and tours of equipment, systems, and areas including daily inspection of rooftop systems/drains etc.
  • Task and work plan documentation including use of CMMS * Respond to emergency calls when directed.
  • Conduct inspections on mechanical, electrical, and HVAC systems and related equipment including but not limited to water treatment, boilers, heat pumps, rooftop units, air conditioners, etc., as per the work plan and complete appropriate record logs.
  • Take readings of all major equipment either directly or through the Building Automation System (BAS) including but not limited to mechanical, electrical, and HVAC systems and related equipment
  • Carry out preventative maintenance tasks as prescribed on equipment and systems.
  • Complete repairs and maintenance as required including but not limited to belts, pullies, filters, etc.
  • Respond to maintenance concerns in a timely manner and assist in solving problems as required.
  • Ensure all health, safety, and security procedures are adhered to and areas of concern are reported to the appropriate parties in a timely manner
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
 
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
  • Possess a 3rd Class Stationary Engineer Certificate in good standing, OR
  • Possess a Refrigeration B Certificate in good standing
  • Possess a Province of Ontario driver’s license in good standing
  • Five years of relevant experience in related facilities operations and maintenance
  • Sound knowledge of building systems and operations
  • Computer literate including MS Word, BAS, and CMMS
  • Ability to meet customer’s security clearance requirements
  • Strong customer service, communication, and leadership skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction and able to respond to emergency situations
  • Strong time management skills and ability to prioritize work to deliver successful results within agreed upon time frames
  • Ability to foster a culture of continuous improvement and customer service excellence within the service delivery team.
 
OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
  • Must be able to work Days, Afternoons & Nights any day of the week including weekends
  • Pay rate $33.72 per hour
  • Working in an unionized environment and under a collective agreement
