MARKETS:
Canada Bread serves major grocery chains, retail outlets, and foodservice operations across Canada. The company distributes branded products in the discount, mainstream, and super-premium segments, and is the leading producer in most major bakery categories. It also produces private label products for grocery and foodservice outlet.

General:
  • Shift work that may require working on different shifts as skills demand arises. “Home” shift will be either DAY, AFT or MID
  • Working language is English
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Communicate with leadhand if problem arises with product or machine line
  • Packing or shaping of product at rate of production line
  • Promote a safe work environment.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Must meet the physical demands required for the job.
  • Able to pack product in a fast paced environment and keep up with the standard line speed. Hand eye coordination and manual dexterity would be an asset.
  • Ability to take direction from leadhand and supervisor
  • Ability to work with others and demonstrate respectfulness
  • Able to verbally communicate with others on shop floor
  • Able to learn basic food safety and safety concepts
  • Must be prepared to work extra hours when required.
  • Must have excellent work and attendance record.
Physical Demands examples:
FRESH LINE PACKING
  • Packing bags of bagels at a rate of 30 bags per minute into trays while sitting or standing.
  • Loading empty trays onto fresh line at a rate of 5 trays per minute.
  • Operate tray stacker- Adjusting stacker for different trays; ejecting stacks of trays at change over; reset stock count and height of stacks.
  • Be able to read production schedule and record cases produced on schedule.
  • Inform operator when a production is approaching the end.
  • Inform operator and lead hand immediately if there is shorts on any product run.
  • Be able to manually stack loaded trays (weighing 9 to 10 kg) up to shoulder height (10 trays high) when tray stacker is down.
  • Fix kwik locks on loose bags and pack loose bagels into bags.
  • Keep work station clean and organized.
FRESH FROZEN PACKING
  • Load bundles of shippers weighing 20 kg into case erector.
  • Make boxes by hand when case erector is down.
  • Packing bags of bagels into boxes while standing at a rate of 30 bags per minute.
  • Direct filled boxes along conveyor to case sealer (between 10 and 12 boxes per minute).
  • Close boxes and guide through case sealer while ensuring that each box is date coded and labelled.
  • Remove loaded boxes weighing up to 10 kg off the line in case of breakdown and reloading same boxes onto the line after line is fixed.
  • Move skids of shippers weighing more than 200 kg using pallet truck.
  • Keep the work area clean and organized at all times.
FROZEN PACKING
  • Load bundles of shippers weighing 20 kg into case erector.
  • Make boxes by hand and lining them with plastic liners when case erector is down.
  • Direct filled boxes along conveyor to case sealer (between 10 and 20 boxes per minute).
  • Close boxes and guide through case sealer while ensuring that each box is date coded and labelled.
  • Remove loaded boxes weighing up to 10 kg off the line in case of breakdown and reloading same boxes onto the line after line is fixed.
  • Move skids of shippers weighing more than 200 kg using pallet truck.
  • Keep the work area clean and organized at all times.
DECADENT LINE
  • Load topping (sugar or cheese mixed with other ingredient) correctly onto the decadent line applicator in the correct proportion. Bags of sugar topping weighs 10 kg while individual bags of cheese weigh 2.5 kg.
  • Follow procedure to ensure the applicator is not overloaded.
  • Recover excess topping after applicator and reuse these on the line.
  • Flatten all used corrugates and keep the work area clean and organized at all times.
FLOW WRAP
  • Lift boxes with WIP and load onto line. Boxes weigh up to 12 kg and must be loaded at a rate of 60 per hour.
  • Feed bread onto line at a rate of 30 pieces per minute.
  • Pack wrapped product into boxes at a rate of 30 pieces per minute.
  • Remove any wrapped product that is not properly sealed and return to line.
  • Keep the area clean and organized at all times.
PARBAKE PACKING
  • Inspect bread and remove defective pieces and place these in garbage.
  • While standing fill boxes with the required number of pieces (or packages) of bread, then weigh if required to confirm correct amount.
  • Close box and send down conveyor to be sealed date coded and labelled.
  • Manually pack boxes (max 15 Kg each) at a maximum rate of 120 boxes per hour onto skid if transfer conveyor goes down.
  • Move skids of products weighing more than 200 kg using pallet truck.
  • Load bundles of shippers weighing 20 kg into case erector.
