This role will be for the frozen food division of Grupo Bimbo. Wholesome Harvest Baking is the largest North American supplier of frozen, par-baked breads to the retail and food service channels. As an independent business unit of Grupo Bimbo, Wholesome Harvest Baking seeks to grow value-added bakery segments by focusing on health and well-being, and penetrating new bakery segments and channels of distribution. Wholesome Harvest Baking operates 7 bakeries and employs approximately 1,400 Associates across Canada and the United States.

 
POSITION SUMMARY:
 
The HR Coordinator will provide a full range of strategic and operational coordinator level support on the Human Relations team in servicing both the hourly and salaried associates at our Viceroy & Rivermede facilities in Concord, Ontario. The incumbent will be responsible for providing front-line day to day operational support with HR priorities including but not limited to, capturing HR metrics, full cycle recruitment of frontline hourly associates, drafting of correspondence as required and providing support to meet HR initiatives. The incumbent will assist the HR Advisor & Manager with the administration of the collective agreement in order to foster positive labour & employee relations.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Maintain complete and accurate employee files for hourly associates.
  • Ability to thrive in fast paced environment.
  • Ensure adequate hourly staffing levels are maintained by coordinating with HR Advisor on recruiting needs.
  • Lead the hourly recruitment process for skilled labour including applicant selection, interviewing, and reference checking and offer preparation.
  • Participate in the development of training materials and new hire orientation.
  • Support supervisors with facility & corporate training initiatives (SISTEM).
  • The coordination of internal job postings, transfers, layoffs, recalls and related administration.
  • Assist with administration of the pension and benefit plans including coordinating with the Corporate Pension and Benefits team on new enrollments, plan changes, plan terminations and employee specific issues.
  • Provide support to ensure that payroll can be processed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Provide coaching and training to Supervisors and hourly associates on Human Relations processes and policies.
  • Assist in the grievance resolution process.
  • Respond to hourly employee inquires and concerns and take steps to resolve issues.
  • Assist HR Advisor with reported employee incidents and assist in the delivery of any required disciplinary action.
  • Review, updating and implementation of policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the organization of company social events.
  • Other duties as assigned
 
Qualifications:
  • Post-Secondary education in HR Management or Business Administration with 2+ years of Coordinator/Administrator HR experience in a unionized environment. Alternative education and equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
  • Completed or working towards a CHRP/CHRL designation is preferred.
  • Experience in a unionized, manufacturing environment.
  • A high degree of flexibility to adapt to and effectively manage multiple priorities in a large size organization.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, coaching skills
  • High standards of integrity, energy level, and self-motivation.
  • Strong customer service orientation and conflict management skills.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of applicable legislation and its applications.

  • Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and HRIS systems.
