Position Summary
The Payroll Coordinator is responsible for assisting in multiple transactions relating to the companies weekly/bi-weekly payroll functions.  This includes timely and accurate reporting of payroll data for the company employees.  Integrity and strong attention to detail are crucial for this role.
Job Duties
  • Prepare and administer payroll for all company employees, while auditing payroll processing reports for accuracy.
  • Balance all payroll transactions, and prepare worksheet for final signoff prior to transmission
  • Weekly filing of employees maintenance records, regulatory compliance records and internal reporting
  • Ensure all employees are paid accurately and in a timely fashion.
  • Prepare records of employment, income tax forms etc.
  • Maintain detailed records and documentation of payroll functions for audit purposes, in accordance with statutory requirements.
  • Deliver superior customer service, ensuring a maximum of 48 hrs turn around for all inquiries arising from questions relating to payroll
  • Keep Payroll User Manual current, ensuring ongoing changes are updated in both electronic and hardcopy formats
  • Fluent in the Collective Agreements
  • Participate in Special Projects as required
  • All other duties as assigned
  • Post-secondary education or equivalent – CPA Designation        
  • Minimum of 3 years payroll experience with Unionized and Quebec Payroll
  • Strong knowledge of ADP PCPW and ReportSmith
  • Proficiency with MS office software, particularly intermediate Excel skills
  • Experience in all year end processing activities
  • Must be able to handle confidential information in an ethical and professional manner
  • Effective attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
  • Working knowledge of Canadian (federal, provincial, municipal) employment and payroll related legislation, in particular ESA, CRA, MRQ and Workers Compensation
  • Bilingual (French/English) required
