Ontario Account Manager - Foodservice and Alternative Channel

Position is responsible for the ongoing management of the Foodservice and Alternative Channel business within the assigned territories.   Primary focus will be on driving sales results via a combination of direct customer interface and support of assigned Market Sales Leader’s activities.  In addition, this individual will ensure customer service expectations are met.


Based on assigned territory


As required to build Foodservice and Alternative Channel business and support assigned Market Sales Leaders

  • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with key customers within assigned territories
  • Ability to secure incremental business by completing the sales cycle from prospecting through to closure
  • Active management of foodservice accounts within an assigned territory
  • Ability to work cross functionally with Field Sales, Operations and Accounts Receivable departments
  • Knowledge of the Foodservice and Gas and Convenience Channels as it relates to the commercial bread industry
  • Minimum 3 years direct experience with a Direct Store Delivery (DSD) system
  • Strong analytical skills i.e. forecasting and planning daily needs of customers
  • Delivery of consistent sales execution plans

Sales/ Costs/ Profitability:
  • Meet or exceed sales targets/ plans
  • Meet or exceed budgeted Management Profit targets/plans
  • Meet or exceed new account acquisition targets
  • Ability to coach Market Sales Leaders to build their Foodservice market knowledge and sales skills
  • Create a productive work environment through effective communication, listening, participation, organization and follow-up
  • Ability to work across functions for completion of new customer set-up as well as for assigned project work

  • Provide Gold Standard service to all customers
  • Conduct regular business reviews with all major customers
  • Ongoing Management of Regional Contracts
  • Establish, monitor and maintain service frequency patterns for all assigned Foodservice customers in a given territory
  • Prepare volume forecasts for given territory i.e. long weekends and holidays

  • Ability to plan and execute Bimbo Canada price increases with major Regional Customers
  • Ability to work within a fast paced DSD system

  • Selling Skills: ability to identify opportunities, set goals and execute against plan to achieve these goals

  • Computer Skills: Highly proficient with Excel, Power Point and report generating software applications

  • Problem Solving: Proactive use of information and resources, demonstrates a sense of urgency
  • Strong Leadership Skills
  • University or College degree/ diploma
  • 3 years of DSD experience preferred
  • 2-3 year demonstrated success in a consumer goods sales role
