Sourcing Buyer, Ingredients

Position Summary:

The North America Procurement team manages significant spend across direct and indirect spend categories including commodities, ingredients, packaging, co-manufacturing, operations, capital and corporate spend in a fast growing and challenging environment.

The North America Ingredient Sourcing Buyers directly responsible for providing procurement expertise and support for ingredient categories for North America.  Position is responsible for proactively managing their assigned ingredient categories and actively working with key internal stakeholders to mitigate risks, ensure best price, quality and service are achieved for Grupo Bimbo. Responsible for assisting procurement management with additional projects/assignments to drive productivity and efficiencies. This is a fast-paced, detailed orientated, position reporting to  Senior Director, Ingredients Procurement.


Key Job Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement centralized corporate contracts providing opportunities to increase productivity, reduce costs, manage risks and align with internal/external stakeholders.
  • Drive robust category management strategies across North American’s bakery landscape, resulting in value enhancements and tangible financial benefits. 
  • Analyze market trends and formulate coverage strategies for categories under management
  • Execute RFQ’s to leverage Grupo Bimbo’s buying power, using legal and ethical means to properly balance quality, supply service, and cost containments.
  • Identify additional cost savings initiatives that require key stakeholder’s participation. Coordinate all activities and reporting to keep project(s) on task.
  • Collaborate and align with Global Procurement in developing and executing global strategies.  Participate in global vendor reviews to provide supplier feedback and/or scoring
  • Maintain contract adherence ensuring compliance with terms of contract and/or pricing agreement and track all realized benefits and cost savings.
  • Assist in the preparation of presentations/reports as requested for use by Senior Leadership and other management groups.
  • Resolve quality and supply issues working closely with Food Safety, Materials Management, Bakery Tech, and R&D. Issues could arise from foreign material contamination, supply chain disruptions, incremental weather events, etc...
  • Reconcile weekly invoice exceptions in conjunction with Global Shared Service’s teams.
  • Systems and Reporting:
    • Utilize ERP and contracts systems
    • Forecast accurate risks, opportunities and price changes to the business
    • Analyze monthly financial results in regards to purchase price variances and currency impact

  • Special Projects as assigned by Sr. Director of Procurement and/or VP of Procurement
 
Education and Work History:

Bachelor’s Degree; procurement experience preferred. A combination of education, training and experience that results in demonstrated competency to perform the work may be substituted.


5-7 years of procurement related experience
May involve 10-15% travel to Bimbo Bakeries USA and Bimbo Canada meetings, suppliers, affiliates, trade shows, etc.
