Hiring Requirements:
The Asset Reliability Specialist is a strategic leader responsible for optimizing asset performance and maintenance reliability across Ontario manufacturing operations. This role drives the deployment of reliability-centered strategies, failure elimination initiatives, and predictive maintenance programs to ensure equipment reliability, improve uptime, and support continuous improvement in maintenance practices. The ideal candidate blends strong engineering acumen with analytical capabilities, cross-functional leadership, and a passion for building proactive, standardized, and data-driven reliability programs.


Key Responsibilities
  • Reliability Strategy Deployment: Develop and implement Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) programs and Failure Elimination initiatives to optimize asset performance and reduce downtime.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with maintenance managers, technicians, planners, and other stakeholders to support the execution of maintenance and reliability objectives across all facilities.
  • Utilization of Advanced Tools: Apply tools such as RCA, FMEA, Reliability Modeling, SPC, and 5-Why analysis to improve equipment performance and eliminate recurring failures.
  • Standardization and Asset Management: Support the deployment of the Asset Management Plan, ensuring consistency in PM strategies, equipment hierarchy, spare parts management, and documentation across sites.
  • Equipment Assessments and Optimization: Conduct regular site visits and inspections to assess equipment condition and identify reliability improvement opportunities.
  • Predictive Maintenance Program: Develop and manage predictive maintenance strategies using condition monitoring and non-destructive technologies.
  • Failure Elimination and Root Cause Analysis: Identify chronic equipment issues and lead structured RCA processes to drive long-term solutions.
  • Capital Project Support: Collaborate with CAPEX teams to ensure reliability is embedded in new equipment design and commissioning, including spare parts and PM setup.
  • Long-Term Asset Planning: Lead long-term asset replacement and renewal plans, assessing asset health, risk, and lifecycle status.
  • Technical Skill Development: Promote technical training and knowledge sharing to improve maintenance team capabilities and drive best practices.
  • Safety and Compliance Leadership: Champion safety, food safety, and fire prevention standards in maintenance programs across all facilities.
  • Performance Reporting: Provide regular updates and performance insights to senior leadership, highlighting reliability KPIs, risks, and improvement initiatives.
Experience & Education
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, mechanical or electrical preferred. Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Certification as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) would be an asset
  • 4–6 years of experience in maintenance and reliability engineering within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of RCM principles, failure analysis, and reliability engineering methodologies.
  • Experience with predictive maintenance technologies, preventive planning, and continuous improvement tools (Lean, Six Sigma, etc.).
  • Skilled in CMMS (preferably Maximo), data analytics, and MS Office Suite.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and leadership skills across diverse teams and locations.
  • Knowledge of GMPs, food safety, CFIA, HACCP, and industrial health & safety practices.
  • Bilingual is an asset for the role. (English & French)
  • This position is national and requires flexibility for traveling 25-30% (Ontario Only)
  • The role will be based on Hamilton, ON facility
