Engineering Intern (New Graduate)

Job Summary
As an Engineering Intern, you will work closely with our engineering and production teams to support various aspects of our manufacturing operations. This is a hands-on role, where you’ll have the opportunity to learn about project management, food production, troubleshooting equipment, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and gain experience in a fast-paced environment. This role is ideal for a recent engineering graduate eager to gain experience in the manufacturing and food production industry.

This position is a 8-12 month contract 

Key Responsibilities:
  • Project Management Assistance:
    • Generate Purchase Order Requisitions. Gather quotes and enter the information into the ERP system (Oracle) for Services and Equipment purchase.
    • Process invoices. Receive invoices, review them with the project owner and process them for payment in the Bimbo Canada Invoicing platform. 
    • Develop project reports.
  • Develop AutoCAD drawings. Generate AutoCAD drawings to evaluate projects, such as new equipment or new lines.  
  • Generate project Birth Certificates and Business Case. Gather project information, translate it into a Business Case and submit it to the Bimbo Canada Project Approval Tool.
  • Develop databases or document platforms. Upload information into databases and/or generate databases for technical information.
  • Develop Project Reports. Generate project reports OR design templates for project reports
  • Lead a low-complexity project. Specify equipment. Coordinate with the bakeries, vendors and contractors for equipment delivery and installation. (Low-complexity: projects involving one asset, either overhauling or new)
  • Project Assistance: Participate in various engineering projects, such as equipment installations, line upgrades, and facility improvements, working closely with the Engineering Manager and senior engineers.
Experience & Education:
  • Education: Recent graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Technical Skills: Familiarity with CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks), and strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge of Manufacturing Processes: An understanding of manufacturing principles such as Lean, Six Sigma, and root cause analysis is a plus.
  • Problem-Solving Ability: Able to think analytically and apply engineering principles to solve real-world production issues.
  • Communication Skills: Effective verbal and written communication skills, able to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail, especially when working on technical and safety-focused tasks.
