Hiring Requirements:
We’re looking for a strategic, insight‑driven Commercial Insights Manager to elevate how we collaborate with key retail partners. You’ll transform complex commercial, customer, shopper and category data into clear, compelling stories that explain the “why” behind performance and drive faster, smarter decisions for both our customers and our business.
You’ll serve as the primary insights partner for major retailers, delivering objective, actionable recommendations that unlock mutual growth. You’ll also modernize how insights are generated by leveraging new technology and emerging AI tools to improve efficiency, automate reporting, and accelerate speed‑to‑insight.
Key Responsibilities:
Category Insights Partner for Retail Customers
Act as the primary insights partner for key retail customers, delivering unbiased insights that grow the category and improve shopper navigation.
Build strong, collaborative relationships with customer category teams and proactively surface opportunities and risks proactively.
Lead category reviews with fact‑based recommendations, clear metrics, and concise storytelling that simplifies decisions.
Insight‑Led Decision Support
Embed insights into JBPs, promotional reviews, and strategic conversations, ensuring decisions are grounded in clear, outcome‑focused narratives.
Deliver decision‑ready communication and monthly performance scorecards with fresh insights, prioritized actions, and follow‑through.
Customer‑Centric Insights & Analytics
Analyze category, shopper, and market trends to identify growth opportunities, risks, and whitespace.
Leverage syndicated, retailer, and internal data to produce dashboards, scorecards, and executive‑ready insights that highlight the true drivers of performance.
Planogram & Space Optimization
Create and update planograms that support category strategy, innovation key placement, and merchandising excellence.
Recommend improvements to space‑to‑sales, days of supply, and inventory efficiency, ensuring layouts reflect shopper behaviour and retailer strategy.
Technology, Tools & AI Enablement
Leverage new technology and emerging AI capabilities to automate reporting, modernize processes, and accelerate speed‑to‑insight across the organization.
Build and enhance tools, dashboards, and automated reporting solutions that improve efficiency, reduce manual work, and elevate insight quality
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
Partner with Sales, RGM, and OMNI Marketing to align insights with customer strategies, pricing, innovation, assortment, and execution.
Ensure insights are integrated into core commercial processes and support enterprise‑level decision making.
Experience & Education:
Bilingual (French-English) is a requirement
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Finance, Economics, or a related field
5–7 years of CPG experience in Category Management, Customer/Commercial Insights, Category Advisership, Sales Analytics, or related roles
Strong understanding of the Canadian retail and shopper landscape
Experience managing Québec‑based retailers (e.g., Metro) is considered an asset.
Proficiency with syndicated data (NielsenIQ, Numerator) and retailer data platforms such as Circana/IRI, Retail Link, dunnhumby, LDIA, or other customer portals
Strong French and English communication, presentation, and storytelling skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders and customer teams; bilingual proficiency is a requirement
Exceptional storytelling skills with the ability to turn complex data into clear, compelling insights
Advanced analytical skills with strong Excel capability, experience with planogram/category tools (JDA/Blue Yonder, Apollo) is an asset
Curious, creative, and insight‑driven, with a proactive, action‑oriented mindset
Comfortable navigating ambiguity and leveraging new technology and AI to improve efficiency and insight generation
The annual salary range for applicants is: $87,500 - $130,000, which does not include discretionary bonus compensation or our comprehensive benefits package. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other factors.
