Position Overview:
Reporting to the Senior Director, Operations – Bimbo Bakehouse, the incumbent will be responsible for leading and developing the Bimbo Bakehouse plant management team to achieve safety, quality and production goals as well as exceed the expectations of our customers in the most cost-effective manner. Specifically, this position manages the overall activities of two plants in the Greater Toronto Area, in particular the production, maintenance, and sanitation departments in a fast-paced environment.
With your leadership and organizational ability, you will successfully mobilize the necessary resources to enhance safe operations and follow requirements to optimize product quality, production-line performance, working relations, GMP Requirements, Food Safety and Safety and Wellness, while maintaining constant concern for compliance with Grupo Bimbo’s beliefs.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic leadership of the Attwell and Viceroy Operations team. This role is critical to provide not only strategic, but effective and decisive leadership to the Attwell and Viceroy plants. This role is critical to continuously improve our manufacturing operating results (financial and process) and efficiencies while meeting customer expectations, minimizing waste, utilizing Lean Manufacturing (GBLS) principles, and effectively managing capital and operating budgets.
Manage safe, cost effective and efficient operations, relying on departmental managers/leads in production, maintenance, and sanitation to continue to improve against performance standards. Ensure associate safety is prioritized above any other activity and continuously improve operational (financial and process) results and efficiencies while meeting customer expectations and minimizing waste. Drive a safety culture, and ensure associate safety and overall compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act as a driver in all Health and Safety training, audits and wellness programs.
Develop and maintain capable and effective labour relations, inspiring associates to demonstrate the Grupo Bimbo beliefs and behaviors, including the endorsement and sponsorship of diversity and inclusion opportunities. Maintain positive union relations, creating an environment where associates feel empowered to do their jobs, voice concerns and give discretional effort.
Work effectively with associates from other functions, including Distribution, Food Safety/QA, Human Relations, Safety and Wellness to ensure that company policies and best practices are followed to maximize the success of the plants. The incumbent must possess knowledge in GMPs and Food Safety requirements.
Become a critical member of the Bimbo Bakehouse leadership team. This is a collaborative and supportive culture, and the successful candidate will not only need to be seen as providing outstanding leadership throughout Bakehouse Supply Chain, but should also be seen as a true business partner to other cross-functional members of the team.
Experience & Education
You possess an undergraduate degree in an appropriate discipline and 5 + years of management experience in a unionized manufacturing sector. While not mandatory, relevant experience in the food industry would be an asset.\
Known for your integrity, you are an excellent communicator, you inspire the commitment of your collaborators and demonstrate the ability to identify organizational priorities while developing the skills of your subordinates.
You are comfortable working with new technologies and are proficient with computer programs such as MS Outlook, Excel, Word.
Your thoroughness and precision are exemplary, and you possess the skills required to constantly optimize manufacturing processes while adhering to the Lean Manufacturing / Agile philosophies. You also have a strong capacity to grasp issues quickly, to establish performance objectives and to react with urgency to achieve these objectives.
