Hiring Requirements:
The District Sales Leader (DSL) owns sales execution excellence within the district and serves as the primary business collaborator for Independent Operators (IOs) and customers. The DSL drives market performance by leading a team of Market Sales Leaders (MSLs), owning multi-channel customer relationships, and acting as the primary point of contact for IOs — elevating sales results through coaching and disciplined execution.
The role enables MSLs to stay focused on selling, execution, and volume delivery by coaching fundamentals, validating standards, monitoring orders, and creating clear, data-driven gap-closure plans. The DSL translates the region’s commercial priorities into consistent, high-impact field execution across all retail channels.

Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & MSL Coaching
- Lead, coach, and develop Market Sales Leaders on sales fundamentals, DSDE principles, and execution standards for all channels.
- Facilitate structured KPI tracking and business reviews with the MSL team and IOs.
- Remove distractions that pull MSLs away from selling and execution, protecting time in market.
- Serve as the primary point of contact and business collaborator for Independent Operators across the district.
- Conduct daily review of notes and actions captured by MSLs during store visits, escalating selling opportunities, newly secured street sold displays, and issues for resolution to IOs.
- Own multi-channel customer relationships that unlock incremental selling, distribution, and display opportunities.
- Conduct annual Customer Business Reviews for mass and large express buying-group customers.
- Conduct IO EDGE Reviews with input and support from Network Performance Leaders (NPLs).
- Delivery of IO compliance letters and review of action plans.
- Collaborate with TSO/NND to initiate RSL-approved JTF requests and support route engineering initiatives, providing insights that help protect route health while adhering to established standards and processes.
- Monitor customer standards, ordering gaps, commercial priorities, and pre-sell quantities across the district.
- Build and drive clear gap-closure plans, leveraging business planning cycles to proactively improve performance.
- Validate program and display execution — including LTOs, expected racks, and certification — to protect Perfect Store standards.
- Accountable for MSL real-time integrity of market and customer data in Encompass.
- Use KPI results and data insights to identify gaps, prioritize action, and inform coaching and business reviews.
- Work with Route Accounting to ensure adherence to financial controls and processes such as truck stock, BDO, URT, Cash customers and TIP.
- Monitor CFCs, inventory, and operational discrepancies, partnering with Operations and Network partners to resolve issues.
- Execute established product recall procedures when required.
Experience & Education:
- Preferred post-secondary education and related experience
- 1-3 years’ sales experience, preferably in a CPG and/or Direct Sales Delivery (DSD) environment
- Demonstrated people and business growth results
- Developed effective sales management accountability system
- Built commitment and teamwork while maintaining a creative and positive work environment
- Proficient Technology and Computer skills: proficient at Word, PowerPoint and Excel
