Position Summary:
Bimbo Canada is seeking a Continuous Improvement (CI) Supervisor to lead, coordinate, and sustain continuous improvement activities at the Langley Bypass Bakery. Reporting to the Plant Manager, this role is responsible for supporting the bakery’s operational excellence agenda by identifying performance gaps, facilitating improvement initiatives, strengthening daily management routines, and coaching front-line leaders and associates in CI tools and behaviours. The Supervisor will work closely with Production, Maintenance, Quality, Human Relations, and other site teams to improve safety, quality, efficiency, waste, cost, engagement, and overall bakery performance.

Key Responsibilities:
Continuous Improvement & Operational Excellence
  • Lead and support site-level continuous improvement projects focused on safety, quality, service, efficiency, waste reduction, labour productivity, cost improvement, and associate engagement.
  • Apply Lean and problem-solving tools such as  5 Why, root cause analysis, standard work, visual management, and value stream mapping.
  • Facilitate Kaizen events, improvement workshops, Gemba walks, and cross-functional problem-solving sessions to address key bakery priorities.
  • Support deployment and sustainability of the Daily Management System (DMS), including daily meetings, visual management boards, standard work, KPI review, escalation routines, and action follow-up.
  • Partner with the Plant Manager and site leadership team to maintain a prioritized CI pipeline aligned with bakery performance objectives.
Data-Driven Decision Making
  • Use site performance data and internal analytics tools, including Power BI, Excel, ERP systems, and operational reports, to identify trends, losses, gaps, and improvement opportunities.
  • Maintain and support performance dashboards, action trackers, and CI project documentation to ensure visibility, accountability, and follow-through.
  • Monitor key bakery performance indicators, including safety, quality, efficiency, waste, downtime, labour utilization, overtime, cost, and engagement metrics.
CI Culture, Coaching & Change Management
  • Act as a site-level change agent by promoting a practical, hands-on continuous improvement culture across the bakery.
  • Coach supervisors, leads, and associates on CI tools, structured problem solving, standard work, and effective daily management routines.
  • Support training, communication, and engagement activities that build ownership of improvement initiatives at all levels of the bakery.
  • Help remove barriers to change by involving stakeholders, communicating clearly, recognizing quick wins, and sustaining implemented improvements.
Site Performance & Full Potential Identification
  • Analyze current bakery performance against targets, standards, and best practices to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Support line-level assessments, loss analysis, bottleneck identification, labour utilization reviews, and process capability improvements.
  • Assist in defining and sustaining ideal line standards, standard work, and performance routines for key bakery processes.
  • Track project progress, validate results where applicable, and report updates to the Plant Manager and site leadership team.
Experience & Education:
Education
  • Post-secondary education in Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Food Science , Business, Supply Chain, or a related field is preferred.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification or equivalent continuous improvement training is preferred; Black Belt certification is considered an asset
  • Project management training or demonstrated experience managing structured improvement projects is an asset.
Experience
  • 3–5 years of experience in continuous improvement, production, operations, engineering, maintenance, quality, or a related function within a manufacturing environment; food manufacturing or bakery experience is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting CI initiatives, process improvement projects, daily management routines, and cross-functional problem solving.
  • Experience working with front-line teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong analytical, facilitation, communication, and coaching skills.
Key Skills
  • Working knowledge of Lean tools, including PDCA, A3, 5 Why, root cause analysis, Gemba, standard work, visual management, and value stream mapping.
  • Ability to interpret operational data and translate findings into practical improvement actions.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; experience with Power BI, ERP systems, or manufacturing performance systems is an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence, coach, and engage associates and leaders without direct authority.
  • Practical understanding of safety, food quality, GMPs, and manufacturing discipline in a bakery or food production environment.

The annual salary range for applicants is: $67,700 - $100,000, which does not include discretionary bonus compensation or our comprehensive benefits package. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other factors.
