Product safety, legality and quality are essential responsibilities expected of every associate.  Product safety is freeing the product of any contaminants like chemicals, allergens or foreign materials such as glass, wood or metal.  Legality compliance is meeting regulatory requirements (Canada & US if intended for export) in terms of weight and declaration of ingredients.  Product quality is meeting customers’ specifications and expectations.

 Key Components

 Supervisory of   Maintenance Department
  • Ensure implementation of Preventive Maintenance Program (Maximo)
  • Direct maintenance team.
  • Bring forth new ideas to improve on existing production processes
  • Propose energy conservation ideas
  • Ensure yearly code inspection certificates are acquired (Elec. permit, Boiler inspections, Fire Alarm Inspection etc.)
  • Monitor and report on mechanical downtime.
  • Ensure system for timely completion of Maintenance Repairs and Minor Production Improvements
  • Lead Environmental Sustainability Team
  • Active member of site leadership team.
  • Capital assignments
  • Coordinate contractors activities as required
 Leadership  / Managing   the Human Element/       Communication
  • Provide GB value leadership  / drive leadership in department
  • Training & Development  / Team building
  • Annual and ongoing performance assessment of team

  • Monitor and report on inventory status.
  • Champion 5S by participating in projects, 5S philosophy & tools into every day work.
  • Take part-in maintenance budget.
 Health & Safety
  • Perform work in a safe and healthy manner; 
  • Participation in ongoing H&S training, audits etc.; 
  • Facilitates Health & Safety Policies
  • Accident investigations
  • Ensure contractor compliance as it relates to plant safety program orientation and confidentiality statements
 Quality & Food Safety
  • Ensure customer satisfaction by maintaining product integrity; practicing highest levels of GMP’s and conforming to HACCP pre-requisite program and all associated SOP’s.
  • Follow Job Responsibilities as per BRC and other regulatory bodies
  • Internal and external audits
  • Follow up on CAR’s (corrective action responses)
  • Member of site Food Safety Committee
  • Actively participate in Food Safety initiatives including implementing policy’ and procedures.

Environmental Considerations

 Short-Term Expectations/Deliverables:
 @ 3 months
  • Demonstrate understanding of collective agreement
  • Completion of detailed on-boarding expectations as it relates to all functions.
 @ 6 Months
  • Develop strong working relationship with departments
  • Familiar with equipment on plant floor
  • Establish relationship with hourly employees
  • Complete role specific training on Maximo, and maintenance documentation
  • Provide improvement recommendations and implement.
  • Implement muscle building and or top grading as required.

 Necessary, must-have role related knowledge, skills and experience at selection: No more than four (4)
  1. Licensed Electrical / Mechanical Technical Certificate and/or Degree/diploma in engineering
  1. 3-5 years as a supervisor experience & 3 years’ experience in maintenance environment as a qualified tradesperson an asset
  1. Excellent planning, analytical & organizational skills
  1. Strong Leadership and communication skills (both Verbal & Written); Ability to interact with all levels of business Strong oral & written skills, proven ability to communicate in an ESL work environment.

Job Requirements
  • 3-5 years supervisor leadership in manufacturing facility (maintenance department) with the ability to demonstrate a commitment to professional development is desirable
  • Ability to work flexible hours to trouble shoot as required.
  • High standards of integrity, energy level, and self-motivation
  • Experience in building high functioning teams; managing and developing people
  • Proficient Computer Skills in MS Office; Knowledge and working experience of other statistical software and Kronos.
  • Maximo, Oracle, or SAP experience is an asset.
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, and project management skills – financial/accounting experience an asset. Has the ability to read and interpret financial and performance reports
  • Able to work and maintain composure under pressure, meet deadlines in a fast paced environment
