Hiring Requirements:
Responsible for implementing and executing engineering solutions to meet the financial and quality objectives of the Company including capital project management and process improvement initiatives.

As a Senior Project Engineering Manager, your role is to lead and manage Capital Projects, from the planning stage to the project closure, creating a project team of internal and external people. You will have people reporting to you who will oversee projects themselves. You will be responsible for CAPEX for West Canada and will participate in National and Global initiatives as well.


Key Responsibilities:
 

Engineering

  • Develops, coordinates, and exercises functional authority for planning, organization, control, and execution of engineering projects within area of assigned responsibility.
  • Defines machinery requirements for a bidding process; follows up machinery manufacturing; coordinates with internal teams for installation and commissioning of machinery and, participates on machinery installation in production facilities.
  • Develops a robust relationship with OEM’s, vendors and contractors for project execution.
  • Ensures the application of all legislative requirements and the appropriate company policies in all areas of capital project execution and technical service.
  • Maintains an awareness of the technical developments in the project execution and construction practices in the food industry.
  • Participates in the development of best standard practices in capital project execution.
  • Provide input to energy reduction initiatives, environmental services and the capital investments to address issues or opportunities.

Facility Operations

  • Work with Plant Managers, Process Owners and Reliability Teams to identify, organize and plan capital projects. 
  • Recommends and implements improvements to production processes, methods, and controls to enhance financial and quality performance.

Financial

  • Works with Plant Managers in the preparation of capital budgets.
  • Handles Project financials, such as Cost Tracking, Purchase Orders Requisition, Invoice approvals and Asset Generation
 
Experience & Education:
  • Engineering degree (Preferred) combined with experience in capital project management
  • Professional Engineering Association membership preferred
  • PMP designation an asset
  • Travel up to 40%
  • At least 5 to 7 years of experience in a previous similar role
  • Knowledge of food industry GMPs, sanitary design and health and safety codes
  • Proven experience and performance in the management of capital projects, execution and successful management of consultants and contractors.
  • Knowledge of construction site practices and regulatory requirements
  • Knowledge of contract development and execution
  • Excellent interpersonal communications skills at all levels of the organization
  • Knowledge of Project Management software such as Microsoft Project.
  • Knowledge of AutoCad.
