Shopper Marketing Manager – Walmart and Cross Category Programs (Contract)

Position Summary:        
  • Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Shopper Marketing and Promotions this associate will drive growth for all Bimbo Canada brands for the Walmart account nationally
  • As the Bimbo Canada Marketing Team, we operate as one functional team including Fresh Bakery, Salty Snacks, and Sweet baked goods; projects will span all of our businesses including various cross category programs, such as completing the launch and roll out of the summer program for 2021
  • This position requires someone who is high energy, has a passion for food and the consumer, a demonstrated history of problem solving skills, strong analytical thinking and project management capabilities and an ability to work closely with cross functional stakeholders
Position Responsibilities:
  • Responsibilities will include but will not be limited to the following:
  • Strategic and Operational Marketing Lead for Walmart and support Metro Ontario
    • Manage multiple projects in a fast paced environment to keep projects going and meet deadlines
    • Leverage a deep understanding of the Walmart business nationally to develop programs that will drive sales and profitable growth
    • Execute multi-brand scale opportunities Nationally
    • Develop and execute banner specific shopper marketing programs and activities
  • Manage all financials related to customized Customer Marketing activities.  This includes managing a budget as well as establishing and reconciling KPIs/ ROI for all programs and tactics.
  • Digital programing
    • Develop annual plan for digital programming with internal brand team and Walmart digital team
    • Perform ROI and post analysis and make recommendations on future programming
  • Complete annual business reviews and develop annual marketing plans, work with key account team on customer business plans
  • Develop customer cross category programming and work with other strategic vendors to maximize value and sales for BC brands. 
  • Liaise with the customer, field and brand teams to ensure marketing priorities are executed and communicate region specific in-store execution standards & trade materials to the CBT and field sales across each region
  • Manage, develop and guide assistant marketing manager
  • Work closely with merchandising team to develop incremental space and merchandising opportunities
  • Create sales materials for new launches and initiatives that incorporate the customer’s strategies as well as shopper and consumer insights
  • Presents new product and promotional initiatives to the customer, outlining how they will drive growth for the customer
  • Develops strong relationships with the Customer’s Marketing department and leverages these relationships to expand into new, mutually beneficial marketing territories
  • Provides guidance to Brand Marketing on effective ways in which to drive shopper engagement on select marketing initiatives
  • Cross category Promotions
    • Lead key promotional programs which could include  “Back to School” “Summer Program” or any other seasonal program as necessary.  You must be a proven leader that can bring different category brand leaders together despite differing  objectives
  • 5+ years experience in Consumer Packaged Goods Marketing
  • Experience negotiating and working with marketing agencies and delivering  fully integrated marketing campaigns that support business objectives and deliver established KPIs
  • Required undergraduate degree in Business with major in Marketing 

  • Superior project management and multi-tasking skill set; this job requires the ability to manage many projects and moves at a quick pace
  • Strong business acumen with excellent financial, analytical, logical & quantitative skills
  • Sense of urgency, hands-on, ability to prioritize is critical, strong presentation skills
  • Demonstrates strong thought leadership and problem solving abilities
  • Strong leadership and ability to build cross-functional and cross-regional teams to achieve shared goals (often including sales, manufacturing, product development, purchasing, distribution & finance)
  • Strong presentation & communication skills, both verbal & written
  • Experience managing and negotiating with external suppliers
  • Excellent communication skills; high energy, enthusiastic with proven people skills and ability to work as part of a team and independently
  • Solid strategic thinker, with good understanding of the Canadian retail landscape
  • Must be proactive and performance driven, be able to work under pressure in a fast paced environment  and have the ability to convert insight into actionable initiatives
  • Adaptable, persistent, strong initiative, results oriented
  • Adept with Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, AC Nielsen, Margin Minder would be a bonus
