About the Role:

As Community Relations Advisor, you will have the opportunity to play a key role supporting Bimbo Canada’s journey to Nourish a Better World by helping us progress our new 10-year sustainability strategy.   This will include working with all functions in the organization and direct oversight of our community engagement programs.

The nature of this role you will be collaborating with associates in multiple functions and at multiple levels of the organization, both locally and in our global office, so we will look to you to build relationships, identify opportunities and build effective strategies to grow engagement as we work together to strengthen our sustainability culture.

The position requires someone with good interpersonal and consulting skills to support collaboration across all functions in the organization to inspire action, advance the sustainability infrastructure, promote two-way dialogue and connect stakeholders, including our associates, corporate and field associates, company leaders and our partners at Grupo Bimbo. 

Key Responsibilities:
  • Promote and lead our ‘Baked for Life’ pillar’s community engagement and support programs and develop new strategic initiatives to engage associates.  This includes the rollout of each program, engagement with associates and leaders, tracking and reporting.
  • Support the efforts of the National Sustainability Committee.
  • Work with the Environment and Sustainability team in the advancement of our ‘Baked for Nature’ pillar.
  • Participation in Diversity, Equity and Belonging committee.
  • Partner with our Communications team to advance awareness of our sustainability strategy, initiatives, and achievements.  This may include, but is not limited to:
    • Writing articles, email messages, position papers and educational materials for internal use
    • Supporting the development of promotional materials for internal and external use
    • Seeking potential awards/certifications, determining eligibility and liaising with cross-functional leaders on submission for consideration
  • Stay current with sustainability trends and incorporate best practices into our sustainability efforts to improve outcomes.

  • Ability to evaluate impact, measure performance relative to peers and identify opportunities to sustain initiatives.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and take accountability and drive results for assigned programs, deliverables, and results.

Experience and Qualifications:
  • University degree in related field.
  • Minimum of three to five years in supporting and implementing corporate sustainability programs.
  • Experience in the CPG or food industry an asset.
  • Must be bilingual (English/French); Spanish is an asset.
