Hiring Requirements:
The Manager, Human Relations & Corporate Programs plays a strategic leadership role in supporting corporate functional teams across Bimbo Canada, including Finance, Marketing, IT and Sales. This role delivers comprehensive HR solutions that drive associate engagement, leadership effectiveness, workforce planning, policy interpretation and compliance. In addition to core HR responsibilities, this role leads key company programs including community donations, associate engagement and Diversity, Equity & Belonging (DEB) initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
Field HR Management:
- Oversee and manage onsite HR operations throughout the GTA, ensuring compliance with company policies, employment laws, and safety regulations within manufacturing/field environments.
- Partner with site leaders to drive associate engagement, retention and performance management initiatives aligned with business objectives and workforce needs.
- Manage recruitment, onboarding and training programs adapted to site-specific operational requirements and workforce demographics.
- Lead conflict resolution, conduct workplace investigations, and provide coaching and counseling to HR Advisors and Managers to maintain a positive work environment.
- Collaborate with safety teams to implement and promote workplace safety and wellness standards, ensuring a safe and compliant work environment.
- Support organizational change management and workforce planning efforts in response to operational shifts or restructuring.
- Analyze workforce metrics (turnover, absenteeism, engagement) to identify trends, develop action plans, and continuously improve HR processes at both the site and regional level.
- Serve as a key liaison between corporate HR functions and plant/field operations, facilitating effective communication and delivery of HR initiatives.
Key Labour Relations Responsibilities:
- Prepare, lead and support collective bargaining processes across Ontario (while also providing National insight and expertise).
- Research, analyze and benchmark internal and external collective agreements (Ontario and Nationally) to inform strategic labour decisions - focusing on best practices, non-monetary language and costing.
- Advise and assist on complex labour relations matters, including direction and coaching of operational leaders in resolving complex labour matters.
- Conduct root cause analysis and track real-time grievance trends to support bargaining proposals, mandates and hourly engagement strategies.
- Improve and consult on labour relations policies and programs (eg. absenteeism, investigations, JLM practices, bargaining mandate structures).
- Support the maintenance of labour relations master files, reporting and mandates - collaborating with Finance on costing and operational impact.
- Prepare for and support arbitration and Board-related processes in collaboration with HR leadership and legal counsel.
- Monitor and analyze union communications and campaign activity to anticipate patterns and predict bargaining trends.
Experience & Education:
- Proven experience in leading multiple rounds of collective bargaining as the primary negotiator over the past few years.
- Strong financial acumen and excellent communicator.
- 5+ years of direct labour relations and collective bargaining experience.
- Post-secondary education in Industrial or Labour Relations (or equivalent) an asset.
- Certification or training in conflict resolution or advanced mediation is an asset.
- Strong understanding of relevant employment legislation (eg. Ontario Employment Standards, WSIB, OLRB, Human Rights).
- Experience in a Manufacturing and/or CPG environment is an asset.
- Strong leadership, coaching, influencing and mentoring capabilities.
- Proficient to intermediate skills in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Demonstrated ability to manage HR operations in a field and/or plant environment.
- Experience in associate relations, workplace investigations, and safety compliance within manufacturing sectors.
Additional Requirements:
- Ability to travel as needed; valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle required.
- Bimbo Canada supports flexible work arrangements - however, to be effective in this role, virtually 100% of in field and at site physical presence is required. In-person presence is mandated during bargaining, key meetings and/or business-critical activities - collaboration and effective stakeholder engagement are essential to success in this role.
